A fortune made by a lying tongue is a fleeting vapor and a deadly snare.

| 7 | 恶人的强暴,必将自己扫除。因他们不肯按公平行事。
The violence of the wicked will drag them away, for they refuse to do what is right.

| 8 | 负罪之人的路,甚是弯曲。至于清洁的人,他所行的乃是正直。
The way of the guilty is devious, but the conduct of the innocent is upright.

Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.

The Righteous One takes note of the house of the wicked and brings the wicked to ruin.

If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered.

| 14 | 暗中送的礼物,挽回怒气。怀中搋的贿赂,止息暴怒。
A gift given in secret soothes anger, and a bribe concealed in the cloak pacifies great wrath.

| 15 | 秉公行义,使义人喜乐,使作孽的人败坏。
When justice is done, it brings joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers.

A man who strays from the path of understanding comes to rest in the company of the dead.

| 17 | 爱宴乐的,必致穷乏。好酒爱膏油的,必不富足。
He who loves pleasure will become poor; whoever loves wine and oil will never be rich.

The wicked become a ransom for the righteous, and the unfaithful for the upright.

The proud and arrogant man--"Mocker" is his name; he behaves with overweening pride.

| 25 | 懒惰人的心愿,将他杀害,因为他手不肯作工。
The sluggard's craving will be the death of him, because his hands refuse to work.

| 26 | 有终日贪得无餍的,义人施舍而不吝惜。
All day long he craves for more, but the righteous give without sparing.

| 27 | 恶人的祭物是可憎的,何况他存恶意来献呢?
The sacrifice of the wicked is detestable--how much more so when brought with evil intent!

| 28 | 作假见证的必灭亡,惟有听真情而言的,其言长存。
A false witness will perish, and whoever listens to him will be destroyed forever.

A wicked man puts up a bold front, but an upright man gives thought to his ways.

There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the LORD.

| 31 | 马是为打仗之日预备的。得胜乃在乎耶和华。
The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the LORD.
