2 人所行的,在自己眼中都看为正,惟有耶和华衡量人心。 All a man's ways seem right to him, but the LORD weighs the heart. |
3 行仁义公平,比献祭更蒙耶和华悦纳。 To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice. |
4 恶人发达,眼高心傲,这乃是罪。(发达原文作灯) Haughty eyes and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, are sin! |
5 殷勤筹划的,足致丰裕。行事急躁的,都必缺乏。 The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty. |
6 用诡诈之舌求财的,就是自己取死。所得之财,乃是吹来吹去的浮云。 A fortune made by a lying tongue is a fleeting vapor and a deadly snare. |
7 恶人的强暴,必将自己扫除。因他们不肯按公平行事。 The violence of the wicked will drag them away, for they refuse to do what is right. |
8 负罪之人的路,甚是弯曲。至于清洁的人,他所行的乃是正直。 The way of the guilty is devious, but the conduct of the innocent is upright. |
9 宁可住在房顶的角上,不在宽阔的房屋,与争吵的妇人同住。 Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife. |
10 恶人的心,乐人受祸。他眼并不怜恤邻舍。 The wicked man craves evil; his neighbor gets no mercy from him. |
11 亵慢的人受刑罚,愚蒙的人就得智慧。智慧人受训诲,便得知识。 When a mocker is punished, the simple gain wisdom; when a wise man is instructed, he gets knowledge. |
12 义人思想恶人的家,知道恶人倾倒,必至灭亡。 The Righteous One takes note of the house of the wicked and brings the wicked to ruin. |
13 塞耳不听穷人哀求的,他将来呼吁也不蒙应允。 If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered. |
14 暗中送的礼物,挽回怒气。怀中搋的贿赂,止息暴怒。 A gift given in secret soothes anger, and a bribe concealed in the cloak pacifies great wrath. |
15 秉公行义,使义人喜乐,使作孽的人败坏。 When justice is done, it brings joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers. |
16 迷离通达道路的,必住在阴魂的会中。 A man who strays from the path of understanding comes to rest in the company of the dead. |
17 爱宴乐的,必致穷乏。好酒爱膏油的,必不富足。 He who loves pleasure will become poor; whoever loves wine and oil will never be rich. |
18 恶人作了义人的赎价。奸诈人代替正直人。 The wicked become a ransom for the righteous, and the unfaithful for the upright. |
19 宁可住在旷野,不与争吵使气的妇人同住。 Better to live in a desert than with a quarrelsome and ill-tempered wife. |
20 智慧人家中积蓄宝物膏油。愚昧人随得来随吞下。 In the house of the wise are stores of choice food and oil, but a foolish man devours all he has. |
21 追求公义仁慈的,就寻得生命,公义,和尊荣。 He who pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor. |
22 智慧人爬上勇士的城墙,倾覆他所倚靠的坚垒。 A wise man attacks the city of the mighty and pulls down the stronghold in which they trust. |
23 谨守口与舌的,就保守自己免受灾难。 He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from calamity. |
24 心骄气傲的人,名叫亵慢。他行事狂妄,都出于骄傲。 The proud and arrogant man--"Mocker" is his name; he behaves with overweening pride. |
25 懒惰人的心愿,将他杀害,因为他手不肯作工。 The sluggard's craving will be the death of him, because his hands refuse to work. |
26 有终日贪得无餍的,义人施舍而不吝惜。 All day long he craves for more, but the righteous give without sparing. |
27 恶人的祭物是可憎的,何况他存恶意来献呢? The sacrifice of the wicked is detestable--how much more so when brought with evil intent! |
28 作假见证的必灭亡,惟有听真情而言的,其言长存。 A false witness will perish, and whoever listens to him will be destroyed forever. |
29 恶人脸无羞耻,正直人行事坚定。 A wicked man puts up a bold front, but an upright man gives thought to his ways. |
30 没有人能以智慧,聪明,谋略,敌挡耶和华。 There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the LORD. |
31 马是为打仗之日预备的。得胜乃在乎耶和华。 The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the LORD. |
