1 所罗门的箴言。智慧之子,使父亲欢乐。愚昧之子,叫母亲担忧。 The proverbs of Solomon: A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son grief to his mother. |
2 不义之财,毫无益处。惟有公义,能救人脱离死亡。 Ill-gotten treasures are of no value, but righteousness delivers from death. |
3 耶和华不使义人受饥饿。恶人所欲的他必推开。 The LORD does not let the righteous go hungry but he thwarts the craving of the wicked. |
4 手懒的要受贫穷。手勤的却要富足。 Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth. |
5 夏天聚敛的,是智慧之子。收割时沉睡的,是贻羞之子。 He who gathers crops in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son. |
6 福祉临到义人的头。强暴蒙蔽恶人的口。 Blessings crown the head of the righteous, but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked. |
7 义人的纪念被称赞。恶人的名字必朽烂。 The memory of the righteous will be a blessing, but the name of the wicked will rot. |
8 心中智慧的,必受命令。口里愚妄的,必致倾倒。 The wise in heart accept commands, but a chattering fool comes to ruin. |
9 行正直路的,步步安稳。走弯曲道的,必致败露。 The man of integrity walks securely, but he who takes crooked paths will be found out. |
10 以眼传神的,使人忧患。口里愚妄的,必致倾倒。 He who winks maliciously causes grief, and a chattering fool comes to ruin. |
11 义人的口是生命的泉源。强暴蒙蔽恶人的口。 The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked. |
12 恨能挑启争端。爱能遮掩一切过错。 Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers over all wrongs. |
13 明哲人嘴里有智慧。无知人背上受刑杖。 Wisdom is found on the lips of the discerning, but a rod is for the back of him who lacks judgment. |
14 智慧人积存知识。愚妄人的口速致败坏。 Wise men store up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool invites ruin. |
15 富户的财物,是他的坚城。穷人的贫乏,是他的败坏。 The wealth of the rich is their fortified city, but poverty is the ruin of the poor. |
16 义人的勤劳致生。恶人的进项致死。(死原文作罪) The wages of the righteous bring them life, but the income of the wicked brings them punishment. |
17 谨守训诲的,乃在生命的道上。违弃责备的,便失迷了路。 He who heeds discipline shows the way to life, but whoever ignores correction leads others astray. |
18 隐藏怨恨的,有说谎的嘴。口出谗谤的,是愚妄的人。 He who conceals his hatred has lying lips, and whoever spreads slander is a fool. |
19 多言多语难免有过。禁止嘴唇是有智慧。 When words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise. |
20 义人的舌,乃似高银。恶人的心,所值无几。 The tongue of the righteous is choice silver, but the heart of the wicked is of little value. |
21 义人的口教养多人。愚昧人因无知而死亡。 The lips of the righteous nourish many, but fools die for lack of judgment. |
22 耶和华所赐的福,使人富足。并不加上忧虑。 The blessing of the LORD brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it. |
23 愚妄人以行恶为戏耍。明哲人却以智慧为乐。 A fool finds pleasure in evil conduct, but a man of understanding delights in wisdom. |
24 恶人所怕的必临到他。义人所愿的必蒙应允。 What the wicked dreads will overtake him; what the righteous desire will be granted. |
25 暴风一过,恶人归于无有。义人的根基却是永久。 When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone, but the righteous stand firm forever. |
26 懒惰人叫差他的人,如醋倒牙,如烟薰目。 As vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, so is a sluggard to those who send him. |
27 敬畏耶和华,使人日子加多。但恶人的年岁必被减少。 The fear of the LORD adds length to life, but the years of the wicked are cut short. |
28 义人的盼望,必得喜乐。恶人的指望,必至灭没。 The prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hopes of the wicked come to nothing. |
29 耶和华的道,是正直人的保障。却成了作孽人的败坏。 The way of the LORD is a refuge for the righteous, but it is the ruin of those who do evil. |
30 义人永不挪移。恶人不得住在地上。 The righteous will never be uprooted, but the wicked will not remain in the land. |
31 义人的口,滋生智慧。乖谬的舌,必被割断。 The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom, but a perverse tongue will be cut out. |
32 义人的嘴,能令人喜悦。恶人的口,说乖谬的话。 The lips of the righteous know what is fitting, but the mouth of the wicked only what is perverse. |
